¡Buen viaje!

We have just said farewell (well, technically our second farewell) to Ashley & Greta. After a rather humorous yet not so humorous mishap yesterday, Jessica and I were lucky enough to get one extra day with our two friends! While we were all enjoying our final meal yesterday at the Taco Box, drinking Corona's, and snacking on some delicious mexican food, we thought we had plenty of time before sending off our visitor's for their 11:50 flight back to the states. Well it just so happened that instead of their flight departing at 11:50- it was actually scheduled to leave at 10:50! Unfortunately leaving Buenos Aires at 9:15 for a 10:50 flight didn't cut it and our guests missed their flight! On the bright side they got to hop in a cab and enjoy one more night in this wild and crazy city....

Our first night back in Buenos Aires was celebrated on a boat in the middle of the Rio de la Plata. Although the temperature in the air was rather warm, and it took our cab driver 10 stops before finally figuring out where he was going, we boarded the ship with 80 fellow costume dressed friends and danced the night away. While some people were not very fond of Jessica's rather large sombrero on the dance floor, I would have to say her outfit was quite a hit!

Friday morning us girl's treated ourselves to brunch at Cusic and then headed to Recoleta for what we thought would be some sight-seeing. Due to some unplanned weather however, the pouring rain drove us into the movie theatre where we saw 'The Soloist', a moving story about the friendship of a NY Times journalist and a homeless Julliard-trained musician . After the film we walked a couple of blocks to the Alvear Palace- a sight that could not go unseen by our visitors. We enjoyed a couple of cocktails and some endless chatter in the piano bar before heading back to get ready for dinner. Tonight we took Greta and Ashley to our beloved Il Ballo Del Mattone so they could indulge in some of our favorite Italian food. Our guests were not let down by their food of choice and even named it as one of their favorites. After a long dinner of eating, drinking and talking we found that none of us could muster up enough energy for a night out on the town. Instead we headed home for some always entertaining girl talk and some extra ZzzZZ's.

For Greta and Ashley's last day in Buenos Aires we headed to Patio Bullrich, a mall located in Recoleta, because what's a vacation if you go home empty handed? After some serious shopping we decided it was time to take the next exit out of there before we did any more damage. We walked to the nearby Casa Bar hoping to grab a quick beer before heading home to pack, but ended up across the street at Cumana due to the fact that it was closed. After some reminiscing of our last wonderful week spent with us four, we headed back to the pad so the girls could get ready for their flight. This is the point in the night where we headed to the Taco Box, unaware of the fact that we were all under the impression that their flight left an hour later than it was actually scheduled to leave. Therefore, after the girls raced off to the airport Jessica and I sat at home wondering if we should start getting ready for our Halloween festivities, or anxiously await the RE-arrival of our two guests. After 5 hours, some tears of frustration, and a lot of Spanglish, Greta and Ashley hopped back in a cab and headed, once again, to our apartment. Although missing a flight can be a huge pain in the you know what, we made the best of the holiday and celebrated the rest of the night at Asia de Cuba.

This morning we all gathered for our second last meal together at Olsen and enjoyed an amazingly delicious Sunday brunch. This highly raved about Scandinavian restaurant lived up to every expectation I had of the place. Afterwards, because Greta and Ashley had anxiety about missing yet another flight, the girls took off for the airport at 5. Yes, that would be 6 hours before the flight was scheduled to leave... I guess you could say they didn't want to cut it close this time.

The last 10 days spent with Greta and Ashley have been so memorable and we only wish they could have stayed longer! Having visitors come here to Buenos Aires, a city that both Jessica and I love so dearly, gives us the opportunity to show people close to us what a great place this truly is. So this is for all of you friends out there- COME VISIT US! We know you won't regret it... and we'll be sure you make your flight home... maybe ;)
